Field Trip Friday!
(does not have to be a 'home school field trip', can be any trip to any place with your children!)
To go with our lighthouse theme this month we hiked to Makapu'u Point to see the Makapu'u Light. It's an easy hike (paved path) but pretty steep, we were surprised at how many people were there, granted it was a holiday, and it is whale season....with the great views it's suppose to be a great place for whale watching, we didn't stand around long, but for the bit we didn't we didn't see any. You can't actually get to the lighthouse (well we could have if we wanted, it's fenced off and there is a HUGE hole cut in the fence, but figured it best not to venture out with all the NO TRESPASSING SIGNS). The kids did spend a bit of time using the binoculars at the overlooks, and then we hiked back down and over to the coast for some lunch! Was a beautiful day!! There are a few more lighthouses on the island we plan to visit this month as well!
