Lighthouses Week 1 (Workbox Wednesday & Massachusetts state study)

We are finally back to the grind!  We started a lighthouse unit last week.  The core of which is coming from the Unit Study with Amanda Bennett – Lighthouses Unit.
We have also added in activities from the following books:
PRINTABLES:
To go along with the USAB unit; I made some 3 part cards with pictures of several of the lighthouses referenced in the curriculum.  I also made lighthouse anatomy cards.
The Massachusetts state cards vary from my original state cards, in that these are 3 part cards; I’ll eventually change the previous cards to this format as well, I like it much better!
Get them by clicking on the links below:
*Lighthouse 3 part cards
*Lighthouse anatomy cards (color the cards to correspond)
*Massachusetts 3 part cards
*Water Toob 3 part cards (the ship is from the pirates toob, the rest correspond with the Safari LTD In The Water Toob)
I made writing sheets with our weekly words at this site, and we practiced looking them up in the dictionary.  We use the Merriam-Webster Children's Dictionary

  2. What a wonderful theme. I hadn't thought about doing a light house theme. I need to because we're within 30 minutes of a lighthouse so we could end with a fun field trip.

    Popping in from Tot School

  8. We have a historical lighthouse very close to us. These are some great resources that I could use in conjunction with learning about our very own local lighthouse history! Thanks for linking up with us at NOBH!
