We really enjoyed checking out the Spring Lego Bundle by Gypsy Road. It’s on sale now at Educents.
My son is a HUGE Lego fan (I don’t know many boys his age that aren’t). This bundle caught my eye right away because of the Lego theme! He was really excited when I gave it to him. If you follow my blog, you’ve heard more than once that my son (age 8) does not like to write. Even writing a few words brings on the whining. This pack has several writing prompts, and he picked out a few no problem. He only wrote a sentence or two, but I’ll take it! Not a single whine about it! The packet also contains some build ideas, art, and real life math. All are Lego and holiday themed base for the upcoming holidays. The holidays included are St. Patrick’s Day, Easter and Mother’s Day.
We worked on the St. Patrick’s day pack. He wrote about what it would be like to have green hair and skin. He did some grocery store math to figure out where is best to buy St. Patrick Day party supplies; he designed his own mini fig.
The grocery store math instructions was to find the unit price, he is not yet able to divide large numbers, so we just switched it up a bit. We too the bulk number and found out how much it would cost to buy that quantity at the other stores.
There are several writing exercises to choose from, creative writing is not a strong point for us, but I was happy to get him willingly writing, anything! He choose to write about being green and which was bigger a mini fig or leprechaun.
These are really cute and fun holiday unit study for any LEGO fan!
You can get them on sale now at Educents for $4.99.
