Battlefields, Virginia has their fair share of them!
Virginia Museum of the Civil War and they have homeschool days! The last homeschool day was held in March. Keep an eye out of more days!
Ferry Farm and Historic Kenmore they do not have homeschool information listed, but they do offer school programs, so a group reservation for program should be a possibility.
Mount Vernon also hosts homeschool days 1-2 times a year. Keep your eye on the website for the next available day!
National Museum of the USMC is FREE, it’s a great museum located near Quantico Marine Corps Base.
Jamestown, Yorktown and Williamsburg (the Historic Triangle). Homeschool days are held one or two times a year, typically in Fall and Spring.
Claude Moore Colonial Farm is a quaint little living history museum. It’s quite small and didn’t take long to get through. I wouldn’t say it’s worth a long drive if you are only visiting the one thing, but we still had fun!
Harper’s Ferry National Park, West Virginia
Frontier Culture Museum has old world and new world displays. It also has homeschool days twice a year!
James Madison’s Montpelier has homeschool days, last scheduled was April. Keep a look out for a fall date.
Monticello also has homeschool days, next date is in September!
Maggie L Walker National Historic Site is FREE, they have a junior ranger program as well tours (reservations required for groups of 10 or more). Here is a great list of more Black History related historical sites.
