This week I am featuring my 2nd graders boxes.  His boxes do not change a whole lot from day to day for the most part.  BUT, we have just started a new review for Moving Beyond the Page.  These are his boxes from DAY 1 of the unit study.

The front of the boxes.  I label them by subject, there is a with Mom card I use if he has to do it with me (teacher guided).  There are a few other cards I may sticker here as well, as you’ll see with the history box.

Since History is on the computer, this drawer is empty and I placed a computer tag on the box.

We do not have a particular order we do our boxes in with the exception that Religion is FIRST and History is LAST.  I will ask him to do boxes that do not need my assistance in place of those that do IF I am busy with the other kids. Sometimes he doesn’t really feel like doing any of the boxes, and he will be indecisive, in those cases, I choose…otherwise he has the say in the order of which he does his school work.

O is for Olympics Part 1 with Free Printables

Winter Olympics are coming soon.  It begins Feb. 7th and goes until the 23rd.
I have quite the treat!  I’ve been busy working on some awesome printables, majority are for preschool age (2-4yo), but I’ve thrown in some for the younger elementary guys as well (5-8yo)
They are FREE to you, please tell your friends about them as well (by linking them to this blog post).  

They are in two parts -

Part one contains – color sorting, magnet page, counting clip cards, patterns (AB, AABB), spelling pages, prewriting pages, writing pages, and ABC order.

Part two contains – graphing and 3 part Montessori cards

Dolphin Wrap Up (First Grade & Preschool)

Above is the completed lapbook we made using the Unit Studies by Amanda Bennett Dolphin Days Unit.  The kids love her units, I think the Youtube clips are their favorite.  But they are always very educational and lots of fun.

This unit study had minimal writing, so made it favorable to my son (who you may remember hates writing).  The vocabulary and some of the other activities were cut and paste.  Some other writing was involved.

While C was cutting out the pieces for the lapbook, I would give the 2 littles ‘work’ of their own, here are a few projects they did during this unit

You can revisit what was in our preschool workboxes for the unit HERE (including FREE printables made by me and links to the printables shown above).  The tissue paper dolphin was printed from HERE onto velum.

C also had a little sewing project, though I think I was over ambitious with it, it started out well, but he lost interest and I finished most of it. 
I found the pattern HERE and enlarged it slightly with my scanner, then cut it out of felt.
