When I bought my Cricut Expression and Gypsy I vowed I was going to use it for more than scrapbooking so I could get my monies worth out of it! Last Halloween I decided to use it to make stencils for which to carve my jack-o-lanterns with. I was so pleased with the results, and with Halloween just around the corner again, I thought I would share with all of you!
If you don’t have a cricut, you could easily print something on your computer to trace and cut or free hand a stencil as well.
What you need – sticky back vinyl or contact paper, cricut (if you have one) and a cartridge with a cool design you’d like to cut out! If you have a gypsy you can change the size to whatever best suits your needs, like for the web, I stretched it out length wise to fit my tall/skinny pumpkin better.
If you have not cut vinyl before – you put the vinyl on vinyl side up to cut.
Cut your shape, as you would any paper item. Peel the vinyl and adhere it to your pumpkin. Then cut around the stencil. Determine before hand which part of the stencil you want to cut around, keeping in mind not to cut the outer edges, so that the pumpkin remains intact! (I’m 8 months preggo here with c)
I made a spider web and a spider.
