Review–Beginning Architecture Part 1 Online Course

week-1_thumb1

We have really been enjoying Beginning Architecture Part 1 by Building Brilliant Minds Online the last several weeks!

This has been a really fun, interactive online course to learn the basics of architecture!  My boys (ages 4, 5, and 8) have all been enjoying it.  The younger kids sometimes need a tad more help, but they still find it lots of fun!

Each week we receive our new lesson via email, we can do it the lesson at any time  (though if you want to submit pictures to be part of the next weeks showcase, there is a deadline).  My kids have enjoyed seeing their projects posted, and checking out what other kids did for the assignment.  A few weeks we ran behind though and didn’t get the projects submitted, but that’s okay!  You can get them done when you get to it!

Mrs. G is always great and providing feedback, no matter when you turn the assignment in! (So even if it isn’t posted in the lesson, she still replies back!)

We have worked with a wide variety of materials, all of which can be easily found at your local dollar store (if you don’t have them on hand already).

Some projects were more challenging than others…week 4 was a little tricky!

But she provides alternatives and in some cases a variety of choices (you can build one or all!!)

above are several photos from projects we have completed over the last several weeks!

What’s really great about this class is that it’s only ONE cost of $75 per family!  Classes are written instruction, with occasional you tube instruction.  Our Google Choromecast came in handy for those ones!  We could put the lesson right on the TV screen from our laptop for all the family members to see!  (This is not required of course, but SO NICE!)

This course is recommended for ages 7-12 years old.  My younger kids did participate, but also found several of the tasks very challenging.  I had to help them both a long on most lessons.  This could also serve as an art class, as well as physics!

The course is 9 weeks long (we are almost through the entire course at this point).  I highly recommend this class for kids who like to build and explore!  It’s lots of fun and they are learning at the same time (and do not even know it!).

Although classes are self paced (of sorts)…access to classroom does close 3 weeks after the last class runs or 12wks from the first class.  Therefore you have 12wks to complete all the courses.  Keep that in mind if you run behind!

Class begins on the same day for all, so check for the next enrollment date!  Classes for high school students are also offered!

The Beginning Architecture Course is currently available on Educents at a discounted rate ($49.95).  My readers can receive an additional 10% off (this and any other Educents purchases) using code CGA10 now through 3/3!

Mrs G. is offering my readers $25 off the Introduction to Architecture Course ($150 reg price, for ages 11+)  You can register for that class HERE, use Code SPRING15!
