This review is for Couponing Made Simple ebook by Christi the Coupon CoachIn Christi’s book she give step by step, easy to follow instructions for couponing successfully.  This is not about EXREME couponing, it’s about getting what you want and need for cheaper prices, not stock hoarding a bunch of non-necessities.

I’ll be honest, I am NOT a couponer.  I tried coupons several years ago, and it fizzled out.  Mostly because the stores I frequent (like Costco) do not take manufacturer's coupons.  I also would get frustrated with the coupons and deals not matching up like I read they should (from various online sources).  We we moved to Hawaii, the coupon game got even more difficult, prices here are a lot more expensive, so the deals were not as good…why bother!  So I didn’t.

With this book, I gave it another try.

Christi takes you step by step through how to organize your coupons, how to match coupons with sales, as well as several other tips and secrets to getting the best prices.

Personally I had the best luck with online coupons…I went through swagbucks.com to print coupons (go to Discover – Coupons).  I was able to match coupons to current sales at my local Safeway, and even stack coupons with my JUST for U savings.  (Honestly, most of the time I run into Safeway for a few quick items, and never even really pay attention to sales or the JUST for U deals).

I was pleasantly surprised to come out of the store having saved 46% on the items purchased!!  Everything I bought (except for one bag of fries) was on sale and I had a coupon for!

Reg Price $84.28, I paid $46.49!

Trip #2

Reg price $275.66, I paid $136.67!

I also learned a hard lesson….bring all your coupons, the crescent rolls were on an unadvertised sale, I had a coupon but didn’t have it with me!

Honestly, I don’t know if couponing is really ‘my thing’..but I can say that Christi’s book made it a lot easier!  I will also be more sure in the future to pay attention to sales and the Just for U coupons online, if nothing else!

I may give it another good try once we get back to the mainland, prices in Hawaii are so expensive that I think it’s impossible to actually get all the FREE stuff that so many couponers get!

Additionally – I earn points for discounts on gas by shopping at Safeway (which I don’t usually frequent)  Right now I have 40cents off per gallon of gas, and am only 12 points away from have an additional 10cents off!  I also received a $5 off coupon on my next $20 or more purchase!  (More ways to save!)

You can get Christi’s book for $4.99 on Kindle or $18.00 in paperback.  Money that you will make back in grocery savings, in NO TIME!

She also maintains an up to date websites for coupon matching at her webpage "Christi's Favorite Websites
