We got to try out Memoria Press’s Christian Studies. We used Book III Student Book and Teacher Manual for this review. We also purchased the The Golden Children’s Bible to go with this unit for the review. We tried to use the unit with a different picture bible, and while it was doable…we found it much easier to use the recommended text.
This curriculum is recommended for 3rd-6th graders. It is a 4 part series, though the part IV is for 6th-8th graders. All 4 parts of the series use The Golden Children’s Bible. We only looked at Book III, though I assume the first 3 books are similar in format and only varying in context.
The Curriculum is designed (and outlined in the Teacher’ Manual) to do one lesson a week. Day one is reading from The Children’s Bible, and introducing the memory verse. Day two is discussing The Facts to Know section. Day three is Memorizing and reciting the Memory Verse. Day four is completing the Comprehension Questions and Day five is completing the Activities section and quizzing on the lesson of that week and previous lessons.

How We Used It
The recommended outline did not work well for us….so, we adapted it (the beauty of homeschooling). Day one we read the story and the Memory Verse and completed 2-3 of the questions. Day two we discussed the Facts to Know section, read the Memory Verse and completed 2-3 questions. Day three we did the Activities section, read the Memory Verse and completed the rest of the questions. If we had more than 3 days of school that week we reviewed the Memory Verses and Facts to Know, as well as discussed the story and questions.
My son does not like to write a lot, so I pick and choose my battles. Breaking the questions up over the days made it less over whelming for him to complete. Reviewing the Memory Verse over several days helped him remember it better (though not always memorize it).
What We Think
The Teacher Manual, though not absolutely necessary, is a great tool. I recommend that you have it, if using this curriculum.
The New Testament lessons were very thorough, they were easy to understand for children and definitely helped provide better understanding. There is a lot of material in the book that can be used for copywork as well, a great way to expand on the lesson. The Books and chapters are also listed with each lesson, so an actual Bible (instead of picture Bible) could be used also, this may be good for older children, as we like to read from the King James Version in addition to a picture Bible.
