We marbled some paper to make Christmas Cards, it’s a simple craft and very beautiful.
Simply fill a cookie tray with shaving cream, then dribble paint or food coloring (we used paint in red and green) over the top. With a toothpick you can swirl it around a bit.
Then place a piece of paper (we used white cardstock) on top of the shaving cream mixture. press lightly over the paper, then remove.
Scrape off the excess shaving cream (we used a ruler) and then dry.
This card project is one of many things you can find at schoolhouseteachers.com, you can read my review of their site HERESNOWY TREES
Another fun project we did was growing snowy trees
What you need – Water, Salt, Ammonia, Mrs. Stewart’s Bluing (I found it at the drug store)
Dissolve 6T salt into 6T water, add 6T bluing and 1T ammonia in a shallow dish.
Then you can do 1 of 2 things, place a sponge (cut into the desired shape) in the solution OR cut an object from cardboard. (we used cardboard). Place either object into the solution and wait, within a day crystals will have started to form.
To add color to your crystals…drop food coloring onto the object. We kept ours to be white, like snow.
This is after about 2 days.
I found this project HERE
That snowy tree is so cool. I love the effect that you got from the shaving cream. It is so fun to mix learning with arts and crafts. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love how you grew the crystals! This could be such a fun winter village.
