Spellingcity.com is a game based learning program for spelling words. You can input spelling lists, and games are designed based on those lists. S you can see below, having a Premium Account gives you a lot more flexibility in the type of games and activities that are available to your child. These activities go beyond just Spelling, but also include Writing, Vocabulary and additional Language Arts, Testing, Teaching and Spelling tools.
A premium membership costs $29.99/yr for up to 5 children per family. But why buy a premium membership when so many activities are available for free?
Here is a breakdown of what you get with a membership that you DO NOT get with a FREE account.
Spelling City also has a FREE app for iOS that can be linked to your PREMIUM ACCOUNT! An Android app is in the works for a near future release (I’m excited about that because my son has an android device I let him use!).
This is a great way to make Spelling more fun, give more variety to learning and build additional skills in vocabulary and language arts! What kid doesn’t like to ‘play’ on the computer for his schooling? My son (age 6.5) loved it, and I never heard one moan or groan when I told him it was time to do spelling!
At only $30/yr for the entire family, this program is very affordable, especially for families with more than one child of age to use the program. So many paid learning programs charge per child, making it unaffordable for larger families.
For Parents: The parenting toolbox allows you to add word lists, make specific assignments for those lists, and track progress and test scores per student. What an great way to keep records! The website is very easy to navigate, as well.
Each child has their own login information. This is important in keeping proper track of assignments and other reporting.
We plan to continue with this program, it’s a great way for my son to have some independence in his assignments while I tend to other children; and I love that he loves to do it!
