Real Life at Chestnut Grove Academy: Week 34 in Review

week

*Warning – the term vomit is used several times in this post, it’s just the reality of my week.  Sorry!

Weekend:  Friday afternoon, hubby did take the kids on their nature walk to the beaver pond that we didn’t get to do because of the rain.

Well our Easter plans were a total bust.  Friday night my 4yo (c) woke up vomiting.  Always fun!  NOT!  This was followed by my 8yo crying because now we would not be going to Grandma’s in the morning.  Bummer!  Though he wasn’t quite recovered either from his earlier ordeal (if you read last week, he woke up Wednesday morning vomiting, and our trip to the zoo was cancelled, as well as the rest of our fun week plans).  Anyhow, then Sunday evening hubby got sick.  So that was our Easter!  The good part was that since we were all home, we were able to enjoy every session of General Conference.

Monday:  Hubby was home from work sick.  c was acting fine today (for the most part), we thought he was on the mend. We did work from the Homeschool Legacy Lewis and Clark Unit.  The kids requested it, they LOVE it!

Tuesday:  Hubby stayed home again, feeling worse than the day before.  He camped in the bedroom most of the day with c, who was doing well in the morning, but then when we all gathered downstairs to start school, he projectile vomited twice.  Great!  This was followed by a huge mess from the south end later in the day.  Guess he’s not better.  Fun times!  Ugh!

(see Day in Pictures for Tuesday’s activities)

Wednesday:  Hubby stayed home one last day to make sure he was completely over it.  K knew he was home and wanted him all day, luckily he was feeling better.  c still sick….woke up fine but during breakfast started screaming that he thought he was going to throw up, though never did.  He had more south end issues…and just was not looking well.  I started to think I was going to have to take him to the doctor.  We tried one last thing, white rice.  Set a timer to make him eat 2 bites every 10mins and drink some Gatorade/water, as well as some dehydrated bananas.  That worked, he perked back up.  No MMA

Thursday:  Hubby went back to work.  I kept c on a bland diet of plain waffles, crackers, banana, applesauce and Gatorade/water.  He was back to his normal self with no issues, Thanks Goodness! We took an easy day though, b/c I wanted to make sure I remembered to have c eat/drink on a regular basis.  We were suppose to have co-op today, but stayed home.  We did computer school and watched Magic School Bus Outer Space, played space bingo and then watched a clip of a space documentary.  C (8yo) fell asleep on the couch.

Friday:  I decided to stay home and skip swimming today, just to be safe.  Knock on wood, if we get through today I think we are in the clear.  c is doing so much better, but I think swimming would over exert him this morning, and well to be honest….it’s damp, cold and dreary out….it just doesn’t scream swimming (even if it is indoors).  I’m still feeling ‘off’, but have yet to get sick.  I did manage to loose like 3 lbs though, I haven’t been eating much b/c of feeling icky.  Maybe it’s all in empathy, looking forward to a healthy house again.  Thank goodness we do not get sick often!  Z woke up with a sty in his eye…at least he didn’t wake up vomiting!

Here’s hoping NEXT WEEK is better!

It’s just be ONE of THOSE weeks.  Ugh!  Just hoping to get through the weekend without the last 3 catching it, which seems impossible, but it looks more promising each day.

  1. ((((hugs)))) so sorry you had a sick week! That was our week THIS week, but I blogged our week last week - not sure I could have blogged through a sick week! Hope you all are feeling better and no one else catches it!

  2. Loved this post! Reminds me of my days when Bo was little. Every shelf within his reach were his and he made his daily rounds making messes. Those were hard days! Lots of good ideas here. :)

  5. My goodness, my Almond boy is into everything and he's not quite nine months old! His sister's both walked early and never crawled. He now is crawling and traveling the furniture. Everything must be tasted apparently. I know this is going to be different. Especially because we finally have gone to the range of toys indeed not intended for those under three for size and all. *sigh*

  6. Yep the bigger kid toys does make it more challenging, I've been lucky that she doesn't put much in her mouth, because she has a fascination with lego men!

  7. This reminds me so much of my life a couple of years ago. Babies 3 & 4 were toddlers (and are now preschoolers) together, and it was so wonderful...and hard....all at the same time!
