Review: Memoria Press Art Cards

We have had the privilege of using the Art Cards (Kindergarten, First and Second Grades) from Memoria Press for review.

These art cards are great for art appreciation and artist studies.  They are very open ended, you can do lots of different things with them.  My kids had fun looking through them and would often point out things in different pictures, they would talk about ones they liked or didn’t like and why.

We would try to sort them by artist based on similarities in the style of art.  We used them in conjunction with another art program.  We would find art pieces that resembled real life or showed imagination.

I found this great set of FREE art question cards that I downloaded and put on a ring.

Other things you can do are:

Have your child pick a piece of art they wish to duplicate.

Look for artist color pages that match or are by the same artist to color.

Pick favorite pieces and learn about the artist.

Purchase multiple sets and use them for matching.

Here are several more great ideas for how to use art cards

These are made of a thicker paper, but, I would suggest laminating them for use with younger children to to make them more durable.  On the front is the work of art, on the back is the title, date, artist and where it can be seen in it’s original form.  They can easily be used in varying capacities with all ages.

These links will show you examples of the cards:

These cards also coordinate with the primary Classical Core Curriculum from Memoria Press.

The cards are available for $9.95 per set.  Each set contains 33 5x7 cards.

They are a great way to bring art appreciation into your home or home school.
