Week 5 in Review

week

Saturday – The boys had their first soccer games.  They did great (despite the rain).  In the Evening I went out with two homeschool mom friends to a Hunter Hayes concert and C had a triathlon!

Monday – Getting back into the swing of things was rough this week.  Monday and Tuesday were hard days!   Monday C and Z started a new art class at Sykesville Pottery and Art

Tuesday – Normal school day, c had gymnastics in the afternoon, Z had soccer in the evening.  Nice rest day as we didn’t have too much running around!  We finally made the Fry Bread from our Native American lesson that kept getting put on the back burner (no pun intended). We ate it with chili, it was so good!

Wednesday – Today things finally got back into “normal” mode and were no longer painful!  Normal school day.  C and Z had a class at the Library on plants (they do a once a month homeschool class) and c had speech.  We started talking about weather for science this week and have a weather station set up that we are collecting data for daily.  (I’ll be posting about the unit soon).

Thursday – FIELD TRIP – We went to Homeschool Days at the Maryland Science Center in Baltimore.  See Field Trip Friday this coming week for more details on that!  Then C had soccer practice.  We finally started Veritas Press back up (we were trying to get caught up a bit with our other history activities).  We have decided on Field Trip days we will only do Veritas Press and Minecraft for lessons.   This is mostly because he enjoys those lessons, otherwise I feel like so much learning goes on that ‘school’ isn’t a necessity.

Friday – Happy TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY!!  We are celebrating with a little treasure hunt from Clued in Kids (we have a few more hunts we are trying out!).  It was the first day back to homeschool swimming!  I have 3 kids enrolled this session, even though only the older one is excited.  We feel swimming is one of those ‘need to know’ things though and once they can swim well, we will let them drop it if they want to. We only do our computer school courses (Essential Skills Advantage, Middlebury Interactive, Standard Deviants Accelerate, Veritas Press and Minecraft).  This is because swimming is from 1030-1200 and book work doesn’t work so well with my oldest after lunch.  We will probably squeeze in a little educational TV too.  Lunch at Pizza Hut to use our Library Summer Reading vouchers!  (We just got our BOOK IT vouchers in the mail too!!).

Saturday – It’s going to be busy, check back next week to hear about the soccer games, the MMA demo and Brick fest!!

We are really enjoying several new products we are working on right now for review, we also started a SKRAFTY Minecraft History class.  I am thinking of also signing up for a math and a science too at some point.  We do the self-paced classes, so they are available whenever.  I much prefer him to be on Minecraft doing lessons than doing other things, but I do allow some free time in creative mode now and then too.

Hope everyone else had a good week.  Have a GREAT WEEKEND!
