Michaels is hosting children’s workshops over the summer.  It only costs $2 per child, and it’s a 2hr class.  I’ll be honest the first one we attended was a cluster, not very well organized and the project was not well thought out for the age group (IMO).  BUT…luckily I stayed and was able to help my own kids.  Now, the projects are the same across the stores, but I think this particular store was not well organized.  You have to pre-register for the class, yet they did not have enough supplies (had to share scissors, had to go make more copies, had to set up more chairs, etc..).  In the end the project turned out, but the kids were all getting really antsy.  I felt bad for the staff, not sure if it was their lack of prep or if it got thrown at them last minute, but we all know that kids eat you alive when you are not prepared!  lol

We have another one we are registered for, so hopefully that one goes better.  I am tossing around registering for some more.  It is set up so that you can do them all and collect things, but most don’t fit with our busy summer schedule.

The classes are called Passport to Imagination.  They also hold regular Saturday workshops for kids throughout the year.

Now, this field trip was for ME!   I bought my mom and I a Groupon for a local art studio painting class.  We had a lot of fun!  The studio is called Sykesville Pottery and Art Center.  It has classes and paint your own pottery.  They also offer homeschool classes.

It is something that I would definitely like to do again!

Sykesville Main Street is a cute little place.  The first Friday of every month they have live band and other things going on.  If you live close by, check it out!
