We are BACK!!  Laptop is repaired and house is somewhat settled!  So I’m back to our weekly field trip Fridays and we have been busy!!!  I have lots of great trips stacked up to share with you!  But FIRST let’s finish up our west coast venture on our way to Maryland.
We left out of Northern California and made a stop at Bernie Falls on our way into Nevada.  Beautiful!!  A great place to get out and stretch our legs a bit.

We first stopped in Winnemucca (lots of wide open spaces!) to visit some family before heading south to Vegas, our final west coast destination before getting back on a plane and heading east.
Here are all the grandkids with my Father-in-law

Lots more animal experiences for little c here as well.  He got up early to help his cousin feed their animals.  Horses, goats, chickens, and a dog (I think that is all).

From Winnemucca to Las Vegas there wasn’t a whole lot….lots of desert!  But we did stop in a small mining town, it’s a shame it was so windy and cold, but it was nice to stretch our legs a bit.

Las Vegas was an after thought when planning our trip, but once we started looking into it more we were very surprised at how much there actually was to do with kids there!

We stayed at the Circus! Circus! Hotel.  Hotel rates are very reasonable because they expect you to drink and gamble.  Our hotel room was ~$50/night with resort fees and taxes.  The hotel is HUGE though and the check in line was ridiculously large!
On the plus side, they had free circus shows on a regular basis, the buffet was decent, though a little pricey.  They also had the Adventure Dome.  This would be great for older kids.  We didn’t buy passes, but we did play miniature golf there (fee charged)

Walking on the strip during the day has lots of great landmark sites – there is the Statue of Liberty, Eifel Tower, a pyramid, The Sphinx (free!)

Inside the Luxor (Pyramid) is the Titanic Exhibition Museum, it was a must see for my Titanic fan.  It was just a he and I event. (*fee charged)
2014-05-06 02.19.02
Then we hit the Shark Reef Aquarium at the Mandalay Bay Hotel (*fee charged)
2014-05-06 02.22.34
We also checked out M&M world (FREE, includes a short 3D movie)

2014-05-06 02.25.50
We also took a FREE tour of Ethel Chocolates and walked around their cactus garden
