Letter Identification: Letter tray or box – Letter B, Letter C, Letter L (leaf)
Montessori Print Shop – Life Cycle cards and book (Toddler bundle) use with Life Cycle Figures, Butterfly Cutting Strips, Butterfly Matchup & Memory
Butterfly Toob – using tweezers transfer from left to right from one container to another, sort by colors, match to butterfly cards.
Math: Place the correct number of butterflies or caterpillars (can use the ‘worms’ from the bird unit) on the numbered leaves. (see attached printable)
Pattern Block Butterfly
Caterpillar size sort – Make caterpillars from egg cartons, vary in size, and have your child order them from smallest to largest, and visa versa.
Science: Get your own butterflies – You can use the kit sold on Amazon, Observe the life cycle.
Nature: Go looking for caterpillars, butterflies or chrysalis (butterflies come from chrysalis, moths come from cocoons). Plant a milkweed plant to attract Monarch’s (Monarch caterpillars eat milkweed, so Monarch butterflies lay their eggs there) or a butterfly weed to attract butterflies in general.

Art: Coffee Filter Butterfly – Color a coffee filter with water soluble markers, then using an eyedropper, drop water onto it, watch the colors spread. Scrunch in the middle and secure with a clothes pin or pipe cleaner, use the pipe cleaner to form antennae

Life Skills: Open close boxes – a variety of containers with lids, hide a butterfly in one of them
Fine Motor: Butterfly Punch (check the scrapbooking section dollar bins)
Butterfly Sensory Tub – use bow tie pastas dyed in a variety of spring colors.

Washing a pumpkin
We used the numbers 1-6 and some pumpkin seeds and a pumpkin math mat for this fun addition game. We rolled the dice for each pumpkin and put the number of seeds in it, then wrote the numbers, and added them up and wrote the answer.
