We had a great time reviewing Math Mammoth, we tried out several of the BLUE SERIES, which consists of a variety of units, each based on a specific mathematical concept (as opposed to a specific grade level). The units we trialed were:

Add & Subtract 2 B - grade 2. Carrying and borrowing are explained here, with the help of visual models, two-digit numbers only $4.25

Place Value 2 - grade 2. Three-digit numbers, comparing, rounding. $2.00

Clock - grades 1-3. Covers reading the clock, elapsed time, and calendar. $4.00

Money - grades 1-3. Learn to count U.S. coins, count change, and solve problems. $3.25

The Blue Series is great for supplementing a program you are currently using.  It would also work great for Non-Homeschoolers as well.  You can easily pick a concept that your child may need additional instruction or practice on and purchase for a nominal fee.  Many times our current math programs are working great, but our children are having a harder time grasping one or two concepts, Math Mammoth, is great for these types of circumstances!

To save on Paper, we used the worksheets on the Ipad using a program called GoodNotes.  Worksheets can be easily printed out as well.

(Note:  We did have an issue with the Money PDF not showing the nickels on the IPad for some reason, otherwise this method worked great!)

As previously mentioned this series is designed with supplementation in mind, and that is exactly how we used it.  We used each program in addition to our regular math program to provide more instruction and practice in the specified topic areas.

Although Math Mammoth does not include physical manipulatives of any kind, the worksheet instruction is set up well for a visual learner.  There are many pictures to explain each mathematical concept.  There are also many helpful links to other online math sources (games, virtual manipulatives, etc..) included in the beginning of each unit.

The math instruction is very easy to understand and follow, making this a perfect program for a child who may not be grasping the concept explained in another way on another program.

I found my observations to be consistent in all 4 programs we used.

I would recommend this program to others, and it will be my go to if I am in need of an additional boost in our current math instruction.  It would also work well for summer practice to keep your child’s math skills sharp (whether homeschooled or otherwise).

They also have available full math curriculums by grade level, for grades 1-12.  Math Assessments are available on the website, as well as over 300 FREE Sample pages.
