Getting out in Nature

I wasn’t sure I was going to have a Nature post for this week, but when we were eating at a roach coach the other night, they had a huge amount of Crown Flower plants with TONS of monarch caterpillars and chrysalises.  Nothing to amazing for us, since we have our own collection at home, but the kids are still so fascinated.  While checking out the caterpillars, we found Hawaii Ladybugs!  After researching, I have come to find they are called Metallic blue lady beetles.  They are the only ‘ladybugs’ I have ever seen here, and since we are wrapping up a ladybug unit, it was PERFECT timing!

  1. I never heard of a blue lady bug before. That is kinda of neat. Learned something new today. I love the look on your sons face in the picture. Looks so intrigued and into the lady bug.
