DIY Color Box 1&2

I finally got around to making my own color tablets, I looked around at a few different blogs, and really liked the idea to put them on embroidery floss holders.  I grabbed a pack of 100 with a plastic case for storage for $6 at our local craft store, and then loaded up on some paint samples. I borrowed a friend’s square punch, and adhered them with permanent scrapbooking tape.
It was super easy to put them together, and will have a box 3 ready soon as well!
The original idea came from Life is Bella Blog, and can be seen here.  I think her holders are plastic, mine are paper, b/c that is all I could find.  But either way I’m very happy with the results!

For those that do not know, Box 1 holds 2 each of colors red, yellow and blue; Box 2 holds 2 each of colors red, yellow, blue, orange, green, purple, brown, pink, gray, black and white.  For an at home version,  you don’t really need both Box 1 & 2, so I just combined them.

  2. Thank you for sharing, I love how they turned out. I already have a whole pile of those embroidery spools and some paint chips, I'm excited to make these. Do you know what size the square punch you used is? I would have to buy one but I'm not sure what size.

  4. Wow, I haven't seen color tablets since working at the Montessori. I don't know if any stores around here sell those embroidery floss holders, but I will have to look. They look so simple to make.
