Ordering the Planets

Ordinal Numbers, Discussing 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc… using the planets.  I scored this blue piece of felt in the remnant bin (I also scored a red piece that I made a flannel board out of…tutorial posted last week), the sun is also cut from felt).  I printed the ordinal cards and planets from 1+1+1=1, I laminated them and then attached felt to the back of the planets with masking tape.  First he ordered the ordinal number cards, and then he placed the planets on the felt in order.  We also read the book Me and My Place in Space, and used this printed book from Enchanted Learning.

I wrote my own fact cards, 1+1, 2+2, 3+3, 4+4 & 5+5 onto index cards.  Then using this sheet (which I made and you can use to for FREE), he would draw a card, and place the number of moon rocks on each moon, right the numbers and the sum.

I cut out lots of shapes, a variety of rectangles, a few triangles, a square, a hexagon and a trapezoid.  We talked about the shapes, their names, how many sides and angles.  We sorted the shapes, rectangles v/s non-rectangles.  Then he built rocket ships from them and mimicked his designs on the geoboard.
