Little Passports #2 - Brazil
My original plan was to cover the country one day a week, but since I got a late start (the idea came to me late), and since we are studying animal habitats this month for science...and Brazil happens to be home to the largest rain forest, I decided to just cover Brazil this week!
As previously mentioned we are using the Confessions of a Homeschool Expedition Earth Curriculum with the FREE animal curriculum as well. We are tweaking it a little bit...like order of countries to match our Passport deliveries, and in most cases we will do a lesson a week, a country a month, instead of a lesson a day, a country a week.
Several of the recommended texts can also be bought from my Usborne Books Website
We made a rain forest diorama (from Expedition Earth)
We were going to make Brigadeiros, but ran out of time this week....will try it out this weekend or next week...so stay tuned! For a list of books we read this week, check out my what my child is reading post!
I have been going back and forth with that awesome Little Passports package, but I am not sure if my kids are ready for it...what are the ages of your boys?
we just got our first little passports package today and talked about it on my blog www.ourwaytolearn.blogspot.com My daughter is 3 (will be 4 in Nov) and she thought it was great! Although she needs some help writing down answers on the worksheets she understands the questions and can verbal form all the answers. She loved the pictures and stickers and was SUPER excited that something came in the mail with her name on it. Thanks again Jen for posting about it!!
I order this too:) but not going to start till September, I am keeping all the envelops in a safe place til then. HOpe I don't lose the envelopes:)
ReplyDeleteYour diorama is amazing! We will probably revisit Brazil - too books that we loved is Umbrella by Jan Brett and Kapok Tree by Lynn Cherry (I think).
