This is the schedule for this weeks work boxes for C (my Kindergartner).  Here are some pictures from Tuesday.

Spelling words (see my spelling post for more ideas)

Pictograph for Math
Workbox for Tuesday for C were:
1.  The Ordinary Parent's Guide to Teaching Reading and a short e book from www.starfall.com
2.   A few pages from Explode the Code 1 short e
3.  Spelling Workout: Level A, practice spelling words with Magnetic Teaching Tiles and a cookies sheet
4.  Read about Reptile Babies in First Encyclopedia of Animals and visit weblinks
5.  Math, Saxon Math K, Pictographs
6.  Child Size Masterpieces Level 1 and Beethoven's Wig: Sing Along Symphonies
8.  Chinese Book 2 (www.betterchinese.com)
9.  Handwriting without Tears - Mat Man Activity
10. Read Aloud -  Snake and Lizard

My 2yo (Z) only gets 6 boxes and then he participates in several of C's boxes as well.   I'll be honest I wing it with Z quite a bit, but I have finally started to get some Preschool things in order, and we are learning the letter F this week.

His favorite thing from his workbox this week so far is Playdough with an F and Fish cookie cutter.

Other things in Z's work box are:
2 bowls with rice and a measuring cup is also a favorite!

We are also using Confessions of a Homeschooler Letter of the Week Curriculum - F is for FISH
and I was introduced to education cubes, and will be using those this week with both boys.  With C I put letters in them to spell his spelling words, and with Z I have put pictures of things that start with F.  You can get all the info about Education Cubes here

I really need to plan better for Z, I'm trying to get more organized with activities for him, and need to come up with some goals for him as well.  I need C to be a bit more independent so I can do more one-on-one with Z.

Would love to hear ideas from others that have Kinder and Preschool age kids...how do you do it??

  1. Those are some awesome ideas. I plan on starting workboxes with our Fall session. We just started doing lapbooks this month, and my 3 year olds love it. Not much help with teaching two kids, I've only got the one.

  2. You are very organized. Technically I don't homeschool my daughter, she will go to public K in the fall. I tried workboxes, but I just couldn't commit to keeping them filled. So now I just put some new printables or workbooks on her desk every so often and see if she is interested. Sometimes they spend quite a lot of time on her desk before she is interested, and sometimes she does them right away. I am not really pushing it - worried that she will be bored in K as it is already.
