Spelling Cookies

On Friday for spelling, we did something fun and different.  We made spelling cookies, using a traditional sugar cookie recipe (we halved it), we mixed it up, rolled it out and cut out our spelling words!  We gave the phrase "eat your words" a whole new meaning!

For Z we did the letter F and fish for his letter of the week

  1. What a great idea! I love these sorts of activities that make learning fun and memorable. For Montessori homeschoolers (or anyone), I think it would be great to decorate the vowels in blue and the consonants in red to make your own version of the Montessori movable alphabet! I featured your post at the Living Montessori Now Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/LivingMontessoriNow

  3. This is such a neat idea. Except for the fact that I can never get sugar cookies right. We will be starting letter of the week in August with Harold and Hannah, I may have to do this occasionally. Thanks for sharing this on Throwback Thursday! Hope you can stop by tomorrow.

    1. Try the linked recipe, it was super easy! If you don't have the cookie cutters you could roll it like handwriting without tears, lines and curves 😉 great way to practice letter formation
