So, after tossing it around in my mind over and over again, trying to decide on when our breaks would be, and when we would have school. I have decided to do year round school. Quince had a really good point about how during the summers so much learned information is forgotten. So since we aren't really doing anything now, and I've been busy planning the school year and am anxious to get started, and also b/c of a visit from my parents in MAY that we'll take that month off...I figured why not have the school year go June - June?? So that is how it will go. We start Kinder this June! Hard to believe. We will take a week off every 3-4weeks.., 2wks at Christmas and the month of May, as well as Federal Holidays (since Quince is home). We'll still participate in co-op or any other extra curricular activities that may occur during break though. Cole actually starts Science class this upcoming Thursday. He will take that for 3 months as we slowly ease into the school year. I'm really excited about it...
We went to the museum yesterday, and they have a dinosaur exhibit (reason why we will be studying dinosars first this year). It got Cole really excited about it too, when I told him we'd be learning more about them when Kindergarten started!
I've been getting more books from paperbackswap.com, and have looked into the 1st grade year to see what I'll need as well.
We've joined a local homeschooling group, MHEN - Military Home Educators Network, and they have already been a great resource, since this is where I found out about the Science Classes...as well as some other Homeschool Events.
So the countdown begins...only one more month till my baby starts Kindergarten! I can't believe it!
