A great place to view the Sea Lions.  They also have a Sea Lion Center with hands on exhibits and a informational presentation.  The price can’t be beat…it’s FREE!

Aquarium of the Bay

aquarium
I have been to a handful of aquariums over the years and feel that this one is a good one!  The kids had a lot of fun.  The under water feel of the walk through tanks was unique to other aquariums.  The Jellyfish exhibits were cool as well.  My kids loved the sharks and the touch tanks.  Pricing was reasonable, 2 adults and 2 children (ages 4-12) is $64.00.

S.S. Jeremiah The O’ Brien

ship
This was probably the boy’s most favorite event of the day.  They could have spent hours exploring this ship.  A very hands on event!
Only $25 for a family of 6 (2 adults, 4 children), Active duty military is FREE as well as children 5 and under.  The family pass is still a  steal, since adults are $12 and kids ages 6-12 are $6 each.  They have lots of other things available, such as overnight stays!

We also rode the Carousel and the kids had a blast popping bubbles outside a local shop.

They were so exhausted that they fell asleep before we got to the Golden Gate Bridge.  We had a great day!  Next week we hit some sites further north off the Highway 101.

Y is for YES YOU CAN (Homeschool)!

    My Album 2-001

I often times have people tell me, “I could never do what you do”, “I could never homeschool”, etc…

I want to tell them YES YOU CAN!  If you WANT to homeschool…YOU CAN!

I do NOT have any magic powers.

    I am NOT super mom.

    I am NOT Miss Perfect.

I am an ordinary stay at home mom and I homeschool.

    Plain and simple.

I do NOT have the patience of a saint.

I do NOT have June Cleaver days every day.

I am NOT as put together and organized as you think.

My life is NOT easy all the time.

Yes, I do have a MA in Education, but I do NOT do anything that others could NOT do.

What I do have is a LOVE for my children and a DESIRE to give them the best education I can.

    I WANT to homeschool them.

I have FAITH that I know what is best for them and that I can provide it.

I have HELP from a great husband who is understanding when the house is not spotless and willing to help me out however he can.

Do you WANT to homeschool?  If you DO, YOU CAN TOO!

There are so many resources available to make homeschooling a greater possibility for anyone and everyone who has a strong DESIRE to do so!

    YES YOU CAN!!

Will it always be easy?  NO

Will some days be better than others?  YES

But the LOVE of my children and the DESIRE to homeschool drives me….it will drive you too!

Me and countless other homeschool moms around the world are HERE FOR YOU!   Let me know how I can help YOU!

    Tips for Homeschooling with Pinterest

    pinterest

    1.  Make your boards specific – The more specific, the better.  If you just use a board labeled ‘homeschooling’ (or the like) you will have a much harder time finding that really cool thing you pinned and wanted to try.   I have some general categories, and also some more specific boards.  Boards as specific as ‘birds’ or general like ‘nature study’.

    2.  Use Pinterest to search – looking for ideas?  use the Pinterest search feature and then pin it to the proper board!

    3.  Check the links before you pin – I admit, I do not always do this.  But, too many times I wished I had!  Check the pins before you repin, sometimes they are spam, sometimes they are linked to the entire blog instead of just the post (and it can be a chore to find the actual post of interest), sometimes they are just a picture with no instructions or anything at all (and therefore useless!)

    4.  Make comments on your pins – Another one I don’t always do, but it is so helpful when I comment (for my own use) how I want to use the pin, when I plan to use it, what grade, etc…  It makes #5 a lot easier.

    5.  Consult Pinterest when lesson planning – don’t forget to look at what you’ve pinned when you make your lesson plans.  (This is where specific boards come in handy).

Pinterest is a HUGE tool for me in lesson planning, especially because we take a VERY eclectic approach to learning.  It’s great organization tool, and clutter free!

I hope you’ll follow me on Pinterest!  I plan to organize my boards a bit more in the near future (life has been so crazy!), but there is still lots there!  I’m always looking for new homeschoolers to follow as well, so feel free to leave a link to your boards below in a comment.
